Family
Add family members, manage a dependent's record, and how access works between members.
Family management is free. A VitaBoard account is a family container, not a single person — a parent, a second parent, children, and a dependent adult can all live under one family.
Adding a family member
When you add a family member, they get their own record — a separate account behind the scenes — linked into your family. This matters: a teenager or a dependent adult may eventually need to log in and manage their own data, and that only works if the record was theirs from the start.
Dependents without a login
A dependent who can't manage their own account yet — a young child, for example — can exist without a login. Whoever created them manages their record entirely, until the dependent is later given their own sign-in.
A login-less dependent shares the 1 GB storage pool of the family member who manages them. A family is capped at 15 such dependents.
Access between family members is not automatic
Being in the same family does not mean everyone sees everyone's record. Access between members uses the same grant model as doctors:
- Adding a member does not automatically give you access to the family's other members.
- Two parents can each have full access to a child; another relative can have none.
The one built-in exception: the family member who created a login-less dependent manages that dependent's record directly — that's a narrower relationship than general family membership, and it only applies to the specific person who added that specific dependent.
Acting for a dependent
When you manage a dependent, the app lets you switch into their context to view their record, book appointments for them, and manage who their doctors are — all under your own sign-in.
